Brent Makes Music 2016: ‘Thank You For the Music’ was a spectacular evening of music put on by Brent Music Service and the students with whom they work. The extravaganza took place at the Wembley SSE Arena and included over 1200 of Brent’s talented young musicians, who were supported by members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a cappella groups VOCES8 and Apollo 5. Students from The Crest Academy performed in three of the ensembles presented throughout the evening.
Alice Gegere, Year 10, led Brent Rock School’s performance of Pop Rock Medley. Alice was very at ease on stage as she interacted with her band mates and the audience and sang brilliantly. Enormous applause and cheers greeted her performance. Congratulations Alice!
Jake Bretana performed as a front-row violinist in the Brent Youth String Orchestra.
Their performance of Oblivion by Àstor Piazzolla was a resounding success, and Jake’s performance was frequently shown on the big screen. His dedication to learning violin outside of school is inspiring, and should be commended.
Five Year 7 students performed as part of the 7UP project with members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and BMS Symphony Orchestra. They sang Clash of Clans by James Redwood and performed the body percussion piece ‘Mambo’ along with Year 7 students from Alperton and St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Science College. Their professionalism and musicianship on such a large stage was inspiring. Well done girls!
